EastEnders score NTA hat-trick

EastEnders score NTA hat-trick

 22:45 UK time, Wednesday, 26 January 2011
OH. WHAT. A. GONGTASTIC. NIGHT.
EastEnders graced the o2 Arena stage not once, not twice, but three magnificent times at the prestigious National Television awards. All thanks to YOU!
As well as clinching the Best Serial Drama award after a tremendous year of dramatic performances, the much-loved Ricky Norwood scooped Most Popular Newcomer for Fatboy, and lovely Lacey beat off stiff competition (including Steve McFadden) to clinch the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance gong as Stacey. Kerching.
Before Simon Cowell could even warm his seat  in the front row, Ricky Norwood was presented with the Newcomer award as ruuuuude bwooyy Fatboy, innit.
The actor slid away from his gorgeous girlfriend, Jade Ewen, and excitedly thanked his way through his acceptance speech with special appreciation for his nan and fans: "YES. WOW. Thank you to every single person who voted.
"And thank you to my nan who has guided my path. And thank you people out there. YEEAAH!" Brilliant.
AlisonnLOVEE wrote on Twitter: 'SOOOO pleased for Ricky Norwood! I love him'
Buffbeany added:‎ '#ntas Congrats to Ricky Norwood, aka Fatboy from EastEnders on becoming Best Newcomer!!!'
Dina on Facebook wrote: 'I love this guy!!! He brings some spark, and laughter to the screen... Love you Fatboy xxx !!!!!
Next to grace the stage for EastEnders was the lovely, and surprisingly shy Lacey Turner.
The actress, who left our soap screen at Christmas as sassy Stacey, has had a magnificent year which had us gasping in horror as she admitted to being Archie's killer in the February live episode.
She also saw her husband, Bradley, fall to his death *sob*, and had to flee the Square at Christmas with Lily.
Lacey (looking glam in a lovely black number) accepted the Outstanding Performance gong for the third time by saying: "Thank you very much to everyone who has voted for me over the last six years, and supported me.
"And thank you to everyone at EastEnders. I learnt so much whilst I was there. And thank you to all of my family for putting up with me!” (Surely she's not a handful like Stacey!?)
Vicki supported Lacey's win on Facebook: 'HUGE congrats to Lacey - there is no one more deserving. She rocks x x x'
Samantha added: 'Lacey u did it again, and I never doubted u would!! Amazing actress. So sad u left Walford, but all the best for the future xxx'
-lyndsey- tweeted: 'Lacey Turner is brilliant - definitely deserved that award #ntas'
And lastly, *after wiping tears following legendary Bruce Forsyth's speech for Special Recognition* EastEnders took the most coveted award of the night... for Best Serial Drama!
Nitin Ganatra (Masood) and Nina Wadia (Zainab) pointed out that the award is never taken for granted, as "the competition is superb."
They also thanked the fans for voting and added: "The show wouldn't be what it is without the commitment and the diverse issues."
Sarah wrote on Facebook: 'Nice one enders great storylines you all deserve it cast and crew x'
The biggest-ever National Television Awards was all it promised it would be... and more. It had the red carpet glamour, the nail-biting drama, crazy dancing (from energy spark Louie Spence), the magical music performances, a few tears, and of course a few whopping gongs thrown in too!
All that can be left to say is... 'you're twisting my melon, man.' (Big up Shaun Ryder and Stacey Soloman's opener.) Brilliant.
We just have to do it all again next year...
Thanks again for voting folks.
