NEW VIDEO: Sugababes - Freedom!

I am loving this song. Finally after Keisha's departure, Amelle, Heidi and Jade have shown us that they can put out a banger without any of the original band mates.

'Freedom' is the first to be taken from the girl trio's forthcoming album, which is as-yet-untitled. The single is due to be released on September 18th.

Meanwhile, Sugababes have claimed that their new album will be less Americanised that its predecessor, 'Sweet 7', which was released shortly after Jade Ewen joined the group.

The Sugababes are back with their new single "Freedom." After the ousting of the only remaining original member (Keisha Buchanan) and disastrously received previous album Sweet 7, the group returned to the drawing board and promised a less "Americanized" sound on their eighth album. If the first single is to be believed, the girls held true to their promise and have delivered a classic Sugababes hit (albeit without a single original Sugababe present).

Their signature quirky yet subtle vocal structure and soulful delivery of pure pop/dance melodies has returned, as has the deeply vague lyrical sensibility. "Freedom" opens with dark Gaga-esque synths, a R&B-style vocal welling over the crescendoing electric pulses. The chorus opens into a fist-pumping chant and ends with their signature descending scale vocals.
Two versions of the music video exist (the original and a "dark" version), and both serve more as atmospheric accompaniment to the track than traditional music videos. The clip finds the Sugababes mingling sensually among scores of clubgoers without drawing attention to themselves individually, echoing the song's, "I wanna be nameless for a little while," lyrics.
Is their "freedom" the existential release of self, surrender to passion, anonymous sex, or a night of dancing in a club? As usual with these girls, the answer could be all of the above. But one thing's for sure, after a hiccup on their last effort, they're back in control of the narrative.

It’s that point on a Friday when you can’t really be bothered and just want to go home, so why not use up six minutes and 56 seconds of your life watching the new videos from Nicola Roberts and Sugababes.

Nicola’s vid for Lucky Day (which we previewed yesterday) is all multi-coloured and FUN, while the Sugababes, however, have gone for something a bit more sultry, with the vid for Freedom taking place in a sweaty, dimly-lit club. And it’s got some faux-lezzy bits in it too. Crikey.

WE haven’t had a new Sugababes member in a while now so we were extra happy to see Amelle Berrabah’s honorary member this morning.

Amelle Berrabah – who replaced Mutya Buena in the Sugababes in 2005 – posted a picture of a brand new babe in the form of puppy Herbie on twitter.

The Chihuahua dog is firm favourite amongst celebrities with Paris Hilton setting the trend for them years ago.

We think we can make an exception for a boy in the band as Amelle says she has already fallen in love with her new pal. All together now – aaaaww!

Sugababes Premiere Comeback Video 'Freedom'

British girl band Sugababes gets sexy - and a little drunk - on the video for their new single 'Freedom'.

The Sugababes is fighting back with a bigger sound and sexier image after the commercial dissapointment of their "Sweet 7" album last year. The trio currently made up of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen signed a three-album deal with Sony Music a few months ago after parting ways with Island Records, the label that had nurtured the band since their 2002 breakthrough "Angels With Dirty Faces".
'Freedom' is the lead single taken from the Sugababes eighth studio album, which is slated for release later this year. The sexy music video sees Heidi, Amelle and Jade getting sexy with dancers in a dark underground club with some fans calling it out as a modern take on the group's 2001 'Freak Like Me' clip.

The band's newest member Jade revealed in an interview that she got a little drunk beforehand to "loosen up" for the intimate scenes.
"When you've got to do intimate stuff and be all sexy, looking into somebody's eyes who you've only just met five minutes ago - and there's a whole camera crew there - it's really intimidating," she said.
The pint-sized singer admitted that she had taken band member Heidi's suggestion of "a few drinks" a little too literally and downed several shots before commencing their early morning video shoot.

Director Sean De Sparengo, who had done videos for Olly Murs' 'Heart On My Sleeve' and Girls Aloud's 'Call The Shots', said the mission with 'Freedom' was to make a video where the Sugababes can feel like they're "on top of their game". The outfits they wear in the video were designed by the same team who had done costumes for Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and the Black Eyed Peas.
Sugababes are still currently recording material for their forthcoming album and have said that 'Freedom' is indicative of the "big vocal" pop sound to come. The band, who has been open about how the line-up change affected the awkward recording of their last album, said that this new record is a "fresh start for everyone".
The trio's new single 'Freedom' will be out in the UK on 25 September.

And now Amelle Berrabah has joined the A-list elite by getting a pet pooch.

The Sugababes singer posed with her adorable dog, which appeared to be a long-haired chihuahua, and posted the image on Twitter to her thousands of followers.

The 27-year-old gushed: 'This is my new dog! he's called Herbie! I love him!xxx'

In the photograph, the tiny puppy snuggles up on a paw print blanket while his proud owner grins.

Amelle has another reason to celebrate, with the girls releasing their latest video Freedom this week.

The track is their first release since last year, when Wear My Kiss propelled up to No7 on the charts.

While the new single is not released until September 25, the trio have already received the seal of approval from fans after performing it for the first time at this year’s T4 on the Beach.

They said: 'We’ve enjoyed taking our time in the studio and are excited to be coming back with what we feel is the band’s finest material to date.'
