MKS Might Now Be Known As The Sugababes… Again
MKS Might Now Be Known As The Sugababes… Again
Posted by Jacques Peterson on 05/18/2014 at 11:29 PM News
The original Sugababes lineup –Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhán Donaghy– caused quite the stir in the pop world last year when they reunited for a comeback as MKS. Despite putting out the excellent Dev Hynes-produced single, “Flatline,” the trio’s return turned out to be a bust when the song limped into the UK charts at No. 50.
They’ve remained pretty quiet since then, but according to new gossip reports in the British papers, the girls are preparing another comeback in August — with new management, a new label, and a new (old) name.
A ‘source’ says: “The girls have changed label, got new management and are getting ready to release their new single in the summer as Sugababes. It’s been a messy battle legally but MKS are now no more.”
Apparently they were able to snatch back the Sugababes name now that the current incarnation of the group has officially disbanded for good.
Hopefully the new team and the old name means better promotion for the original ‘Babes, who really should’ve smashed the charts with “Flatline.”

Mutya Buena falls victim to the camera's glare as she goes bra-less while putting on a united front with MKS
Mind the flash! Mutya Buena falls victim to the camera's glare as she goes bra-less while putting on a united front with MKS

There were reports that MKS, the original Sugababes trio, were heading for yet another split.
But on Tuesday evening the group – Mutya Buena, Siobhán Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan – showed they are closer than ever when they attended The View From The Shard 1st Birthday Party.
And their togetherness certainly didn’t go unmissed with the help of Mutya, who managed to flash her chest as she suffered a wardrobe malfunction when she came under the camera flashes.
Oops: Mutya Buena accidentally revealed too much as she attended The View From The Shard 1st Birthday Party on Tuesday evening
The 28-year-old wore a tight black dress beneath which she went bra-less, giving passers-by more than an eyeful.
Over her sexy dress she draped a faux fur coat which she pulled over her head to avoid getting wet as she walked.
The singer kept her legs bare - showing off her many tattoos while wearing a pair of black peep toe heels.
Too much glare: Her opaque black dress became rather flimsy as she posed for picture, while Keisha looked more demure (R)
United: MKS showed they are still going strong at the party (L-R) Mutya Buena, Siobhan Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan
Keisha also opted for a black dress, which featured intentional sheer panels around her stomach area and the hem.
She accessorised with a statement silver necklace, black gladiator style heels and a dash of bright red lipstick.
Siobhán went for a different look to the other girls’ LBDs and wore a tailored black suit with a silky green shirt, which complimented her red locks perfectly.
TV stars: AJ Odudu (L) and Ashley James (R) were on hand to celebrate at The Shard
Rumours began circulating in January of this year that all was not well in camp Sugababes – after their debut single Flatline only reached number 50 in the charts.
Keisha then tweeted Mutya: ‘@MutyaBuena Hello???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clearly I have to start tweeting you.’
And she also wrote on one of Instagram pictures: ‘EMAILS!!!!!!!!!! Work???????????????? @mutyabuena hello ????’
A couple for heights: Jenni Falconer attended alongside partner James Midgley
Keisha calmed worried fans by writing: ‘Guys chill lol all is wonderful with me & my sisters woohsahhhh not that deep.’
While Mutya added: ‘Nothing's goin on dnt worry no red Alerts everyone's on holiday at the moment ..... I'm chillin with family fones on silent.’
Meanwhile The Shard party was also attended by former Made In Chelsea star Ashley James, Jenni Falconer and TV presenter AJ Odudu.
Having her cake: Great British Bake Off star Frances Quinn created a masterpiece especially for the party

Are MKS the original Sugababes heading for another split after Mutya Keisha Siobhan email row?
Speculation of strife in Suga-land mounted earlier this week when Keisha Buchanan sent a highly public tweet to Mutya casting doubts on the trio's future
Getty
Oh dear, could history be repeating itself with the original Sugababes?
After becoming more known for their backbiting and revolving door policy on membership, the original trio - expunged from the official line-up - decided to reform and it was all supposed to be different this time around.
The original three - the imaginatively-titled Mutya Keisha Siobhan - got back together, released a single and went on a sold-out tour across the UK but it seems that all is not well in the land of Suga.
With their debut single Flatline er - flatlining in the charts, managing to peak at just number 50 - rumours had been swirling that the band's much-anticipated comeback was a dud and that they were due to be dropped by their record label.

That was swiftly denied but now new speculation of trouble has swept social networks following a suspect tweet that Keisha Buchanan sent to bandmate Mutya Buena.
"@MutyaBuena Hello???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clearly I have to start tweeting you," the Round Round singer wrote in a highly public fashion.
Then on one of Mutya's Instagram photos, bandmate Keisha wrote: "EMAILS!!!!!!!!!! Work???????????????? @mutyabuena hello ????"
Meanwhile third member Siobhan is enjoying a lovely holiday, apparently blissfully unaware of all the drama.
Guys chill lol all is wonderful with me & my sisters #woohsahhhh not that deep
Nothing's goin on dnt worry no red Alerts everyone's on holiday at the moment ..... I'm chillin with family fones on silent 😁👊
Well - don't panic because it seems not. Keisha later deleted her tweet and comments to Real Girl singer Mutya and wrote: "Guys chill lol all is wonderful with me & my sisters woohsahhhh not that deep".
Mutya added her own explanation, writing: "Nothing's goin on dnt worry no red Alerts everyone's on holiday at the moment ..... I'm chillin with family fones on silent"
The group's publicist also denied there was an issue, saying in a statement to 3am online: "There’s nothing going on here. The band will be releasing their second single and their album later this year."
Fingers crossed!

Keisha Buchanan loves her boobs
Keisha Buchanan loves her boobs
Keisha Buchanan loves her boobs.
The MKS singer admits her weight sometimes fluctuates but she loves the fact her chest always stays the same size, no matter how many pounds she sheds.
She said: ''I've lost weight and kept a healthy balance by eating more often but with smaller portions ... I love my boobs! They never get smaller when I lose weight which is great!''
The 'Flatline' singer - who is joined in MKS by her original Sugababes bandmates, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy - enjoys working out and is happy to visit the gym almost every day.
She said: ''I'm all about weights and cardio, but I enjoy dancing and Body Pump classes. When I'm really going for it, I do 75 minute sessions five days a week.''
And Keisha refuses fizzy drinks and takes a nutritional supplement to keep her skin looking healthy.
She said: ''I take cod liver oil. I love the glow it gives your skin.
''Drink plenty of water. I find that easy because I don't have fizzy drinks.
''I have a facial and cut out unhealthy snacks [before an event]. There's nothing worse than having a breakout when there are cameras around.''
However, Keisha does not always follow such a strict diet.
She admitted to Now magazine: ''I have the biggest sweet tooth. Angel cake and custard is my favourite thing to eat, like, ever.''

Keisha Buchanan didn't like Sugababes songs
Keisha Buchanan - Keisha Buchanan didn't like Sugababes songs
by Bang Showbiz | 02 November 2013
Keisha Buchanan has admitted she didn't like the music Sugababes were making in her final days with the group.
Keisha Buchanan hated what the Sugababes became.
The 29-year-old singer was the final founder member to leave the group in 2009 - when she was performing with Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - and says she ''gave up'' as the band were nothing like the one she first joined with Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy, who left in 2006 and 2001 respectively.
Keisha - who was replaced in Sugababes by Jade Ewen - said: ''We had a lot of success when Mutya was in the group, but I sensed she wasn't always happy so I couldn't really enjoy that period.
''There were a few tracks I liked, but it felt like we'd lost the essence of what we were as a group. By the end, I was the only one fighting for creative control and eventually I gave up.''
The original group reformed in 2010 as Mutya Keisha Siobhan - aka MKS - and are hopeful they won't have the same problems as they did in their early days because they are no longer open to outside influence.
Speaking of their past struggles, Mutya said: ''It was [because] we were 15, 16 years old and didn't communicate.
''When you have adults around you who stir things up by taking one girl aside and telling her one thing and another something else, it creates tension.''
Keisha added to Britain's Grazia magazine: ''We were like lab rats. We had a strange relationship but it was influenced by the people around us.''

MKS will perform in Victoria on 21 November
Girl band MKS, also known as Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan, will launch a festive photography exhibition in London's Victoria on 21 November.
The girl band, which is made up of the founding members of Sugababes, will officially switch on Victoria's lights, illuminating Victoria Street from the station to Buckingham Gate.
A festive photo of MKS will be projected onto the façade of Victoria's Cardinal Place, equivalent to the height of seven double decker buses, to mark the start of a three-night entertainment showcase.
Meanwhile, MKS, who reformed as a group in 2012, will perform their debut single Flatline alongside songs from their new album.
Time Out London's chief photographer Rob Grieg will curate the #CreateChristmas exhibition selecting photos submitted by the public, with each of the photos projected from 5.30pm–7.30pm daily on 21-23 November.
For each photo that makes it into the final exhibition, Create Victoria will donate £1 to youth charity The Prince's Trust as part of its Christmas appeal.
Visitors to the #CreateChristmas exhibition can enjoy live performances on stage, including the London Ballet Company and The Gruffalo performing with The Snail & The Whale, as well as a Christmas food market.

Mutya Buena open to reclaiming Sugababes name for MKS
Mutya Buena open to reclaiming Sugababes name for MKS
Published Thursday, Nov 7 2013, 10:25 GMT | By Daniel Sperling |
Mutya Buena has told Digital Spy that she is open to taking back the Sugababes name.
The 28-year-old is recording with original bandmates Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy under the name MKS, though it would appear the Sugababes name is no longer in use after Jade Ewen revealed to DS that the current line-up of herself, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah split two years ago.

Speaking to us at Disney's 'Share the Magic' Christmas party on Oxford Street last night (November 6), Buena said that she is keeping "an open mind" about becoming the Sugababes again.
"You never say never," she said. "I think you should always have an open mind. And it is our name!"
Buena currently owns rights to use the Sugababes name on paper, cardboard and goods made from these materials, stationery and gift wrapping products.
The singer also claimed that she is not worried about MKS's debut track 'Flatline' only reaching 50 in the UK singles chart.

"I'm happy, and I love the song," she said. "I think it's probably one of the best songs we've ever done.
"It's not always about chart positions, it's about having fans that love your music and we've got such dedicated fans.
"We're able to go out and release music and feel like, 'Oh God, we never made it to number one'. I really didn't care if it went to number one or number 100. I just wanted people to recognise we were back together and we were enjoying ourselves."

Asked why she thought buzz about MKS and 'Flatline' hadn't transferred into more sales, Buena replied: "There wasn't a lot of promotion, to tell you the truth. And it came out on a Friday and charted on the Sunday - when does that give you enough time to promote your music?
"But you know what, I thought we did well. I'm looking towards the tour and coming back next year with the album and more singles."

Bouncing back! Keisha Buchanan wears a patterned playsuit for MKS TV appearance as sales of new single Flatline... flatline

The trio were making an appearance on BBC Breakfast in Manchester just days after new track Flatline failed to break into the UK Top 40 – a potential death knell in the fickle world of pop.
Despite the setback, all three girls – reformed and redefined as MKS – admitted in a post on their official Twitter account that they had risen at the crack of dawn in order to prepare for their promotional slot on the show.

Feeling playful: Keisha Buchanan wears a stylish patterned playsuit for an appearance on BBC Breakfast in Manchester on Wednesday morning
‘Morning tweets! Been up since 5am getting ready for BBC Breakfast :-) Tune in ! Xx,’ they tweeted shortly before taking their seats on the sofa alongside hosts Bill Turnbull and Susanna Reid.
Their efforts had clearly paid off – with Keisha, 28, leading the way in a stylish patterned playsuit, black leather jacket and red peep-toe heels that revealed a distinctive, ice-blue shade of polish on her nails.
Flame-haired Siobhan, 29, also stood out in a stylishly mismatched outfit comprised of patterned jacket and floral print leggings stitched in red, black and lilac hues.
Turning on the style: MKS band-members Siobhan Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan looked good for an appearance on the BBC on Wednesday morning
It's all behind them now: MKS have vowed to carry on despite their failure to break into the UK Top 40 with debut single Flatline
The look was completed by a pair of distinctive blue heels, while her make-up – reduced to discreet, natural shades – kept the attention firmly fixed on her clothes.
While her two band-mates went for loud prints and playsuits, Mutya, 28, chose a comparatively conventional pair of skinny jeans and dark blue pumps, while a burgundy polka-dot shirt gave her look an added wash of colour.
The three girls – founding members of girl-group Sugababes – reunited in 2011 to record a new album under the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan.
Photo op: A fan rubs shoulders with the three girls for a photo on Wednesday morning
Meet and greet: Mutya Buena indulges a fan with a photo after arriving at BBC Studios in Manchester
Having enlisted the help of former All Saint Shaznay Lewis, Emeli Sande and talented singer-songwriter Devonte Hynes, much was expected from the band – whose last release together came in 2001.
Hynes – who records under the pseudonym Blood Orange – had previously helped reinvigorate the otherwise flagging career of Solange Knowles, who’s critically acclaimed True EP he co-wrote and produced.
Despite that success, MKS debut Flatline – which he had a hand in writing – limped to number 50 on the UK chart following a week of disappointing sales.
The band has insisted they will persevere with plans to release an album in 2014, with Keisha claiming they still have high expectations.
‘We are taking this seriously. We’d love to break America and do a world tour,’ she told The Daily Star. ‘It’s a new day. We want to concentrate on the future and reclaim what we lost. We are very much back as a group for good.’
Sticking together: The band plan to release their new album in 2014

Original Sugababes Mutya Keisha Siobhan have released a single! Have you heard it? Of course not! - Now Magazine
Monday 16 September 2013
Original Sugababes Mutya Keisha Siobhan have released a single! Have you heard it? Of course not!
They're back! Hoorah! But have you heard the ex-Sugababes Mutya Keisha Siobhan's new single?
Awww. Mutya Buena we have missed you. Now back with her Sugababe bandmates she looks like the cat who got the disco cream!
Sugababes reunited - Keisha B joins Siobhan at her wedding last year!
Back where they belong - former Sugababes stars Mutya Keisha Siobhan doing what they do best! Er, singing, not having cat fights (though they're pretty good at that too!)
The other Sugababes. Sadly they decided not to take on the old skool for a chart battle to end all chart battles. Boooooo!
When original Sugababes Mutya Keisha Siobhan announced they were set to reform again I was so flaming giddy that I almost popped (which, to be honest, would have been rather messy!)
But with a back catalogue of amazing moodfests like Run For Cover, New Year and the almost jaunty Overload, I couldn't wait to find out what the three original members had to offer us this time round.
So, imagine my excitement when Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Doherty finally released their single Flatline. Er, well I would have been if I'd known it was out.
Normally when a huge band mark their return they pull out all the stops and appear on all the big TV shows and appear in mighty mags like Now!
But it turns out that their 'people' had other ideas and decided they should only appear in niche 'arty' mags.
The result? Their song has (at the time of writing) reached No 50 in the charts! Er....not quite the comeback stat they expected, I'm sure.
That said, their 'people' insist that this is a soft launch and that they will pull out all the stops on the next single. If they get to release one.
I love these pop minxes and was hoping for an explosive return by one of the greatest pop trios since, er, the mighty Big Fun (highpitched 90s boyband for those of you out of the loop!).
Sadly, they will have to look back at their chart history and see a big fat No 50! Shame!
Another thing that left me miffed was the fact that the other Sugababes were so lame not to release a corking single to compete with their rivals. How cool would that have been?
With record sales at an all time low and no one caring about who releases what these days, a chart battle is just what we needed. Just like that Oasis vs Blur battle in the 90s!
Oh well, too late! What is the world coming to?

They made their return to the music scene with a bang earlier this year.
And it seems Mutya Keisha Siobhán, formally known as the Sugababes, have also made their mark on the fashion world.
The girl group made sure they took centre stage as they took their seats front row at the PPQ show during London Fashion Week on Friday at Somerset House.
Sitting pretty: Mutya Keisha Siobhán took centre stage at the PPQ show at London Fashion Week at Somerset House on Friday
Sitting pretty Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan showed off their recently acquired sophisticated style.
Siobhán revealed a glimpse of her washboard stomach wearing a Herve Leger catwalk skirt and top.
The beautiful red head, who opted for simple make-up apart from thick eyeliner, completed her look with a pair of Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.
Strike a pose: The group gave the models a run for their money as they posed up ahead of the show
Cool clash: MKS wore a variety of different prints creating an overall cool look with the clash
Mutya kept her famous figure relatively underwraps in a Herve Leger catwalk dress, which featured a slight slit.
With her hair worn poker straight down her shoulders, she added a pair of Jerome C. Rousseau shoes.
Keisha opted for a slightly different look and wore a trouser and top from the PPQ archive.
Girl of the moment: Ellie Goulding (L) looked stunning in black while Bip Ling went for a fun look
Wild thing: Jo Wood looked hot to trot in leopard print trousers featuring a bumble bee print
Up and coming: Actress Amber Anderson (L) wore an eighties inspired look while Delilah hit the high note with her frock
The clashing monochrome print looked effortlessly cool while she added sex appeal with a dash of bright red lipstick.
The singers weren’t the only famous faces to attend the catwalk show and their fellow pop star Ellie Goulding also made sure she turned heads.
Ellie, who is fast become a force to reckoned with on the fashion scene, wore an interesting floor length black dress from the PPQ archive.
Centre stage: A model walks the runway at the PPQ show during London Fashion Week SS14 at BFC Courtyard Showspace
The dress showed off her toned arms perfectly and she wore her long blonde hair tousled to one side.
Ronnie Wood’s ex-wife Jo opted for a wilder look and slipped on a pair of leopard print trousers as she too took her seat in the front row.
Adding a touch of A-list to the proceedings was Star Trek actor Chris Pine, who looked dashingly handsome as he arrived.
The actor got caught out slightly in the rain – resulting in his blue bomber jacket being a little rain stained and his hair falling across his face.
Other guests at the show included Amber Anderson, Olivia Grant, Lilah Parsons and Bip Ling.
Caught out: Chris Pine managed to get a little wet as he made his way in, while Ellie Goulding escaped it
Singing in the rain: Jo Wood had fun with her umbrella as she arrived for the show
All in the detail: When Ellie turned around the cut-out detail of her back could be seen
United front: The former Sugababes showed off the intricate detail of their outfits as they turned around
Bright and beautiful: Lilah Parsons (L) looked incredible in her bright outfit, while Olivia Grant also opted for a flash of colour
Bold: Olivia Grant stunned in a vibrant orange and pink dress as she arrived in the drizzle
