Lily Allen has headed the list of winners at this year's Ivor Novello Awards, picking up two gongs for her single 'The Fear'.

The singer was said to be in "floods of tears" after the track won prizes for 'Best Song Musically and Lyrically' and 'Most Performed Work', fending off competition from the likes of Girls Aloud and James Morrison.

"This song is so much about feeling so lost. It has made me feel quite found all of a sudden," the BBC quotes her as saying.

She then joked: "If the the producer of the forthcoming Sugababes album wants to see me, I'll be at the bar."

Other winners at this year's awards included Paolo Nutini, who won the 'Album' award for Sunny Side Up, and Paul Weller, who won a 'Lifetime Achievement' gong.

Imogen Heap also picked up an award for 'International achievement', while Bat For Lashes won 'Best Contemporary Song' for 'Daniel'.
