Mutya ends fight for Sugababes name

CHILD’S PLAY FOR MUTYA BUENA

ABOVE: Mutya Buena is switching careers from music to psychiatry
14th October 2010

By Kim Dawson

EX-Sugababe Mutya Buena is giving up on music to become a child psychiatrist.

The smokey-voiced girl has ditched her battle to claim back the Sugababes name to concentrate on learning how to help kids.

Mutya, 25, told me: “I took up a course in child psychology because it was an interest of mine.

“I can’t be bothered to argue about the Sugababes, it’s so silly.
“I’m in two minds about music in general. I love doing it but I’m not sure if I want to carry on.”

Seeing her pal George Michael, 47, sent to prison also changed Mutya’s perspective on fame.

She said: “Bless George. He is having a hard time. He only gets caught for these things because he gets followed constantly.

“I’m enjoying being out of the spotlight, not having people follow me on motorbikes.”

Before she signs off, Mutya has lent vocals to an album of Radiohead and Pixies’ cover songs called The Sound Of Camden. She said: “It reflects Camden. It’s colourful.”

You can get the album from London’s Camden market or iTunes.
