Label gives Sugababes time to make next album 'perfect'

Label gives Sugababes time to make next album 'perfect'

Page last updated at 06:04 GMT, Monday, 27 September 2010 07:04 UK
    Sugababes line-up
There are no founding members left in the present incarnation of Sugababes
Sugababes say their record company is giving them as much time as they need to get their next album right.
Their last record Sweet 7 got to number 14 and followed drama when founding member Keisha Buchanan left the band, claiming it wasn't her choice.
Former Eurovision contender Jade Ewen joined in her place.
Heidi Range says their label is giving them space to get it right this time: "We haven't been given a time limit on when it's got to be ready."
She added: "Our label have been so supportive, they've given us basically the time we need to experiment and get it 100%."
Stress Amelle Berrabah also took time out from the band last year to be treated in a clinic for nervous exhaustion.
She's happy their record company aren't pressuring them: "They've been really supportive. They are really happy with all the success we've had so far.
"They give us a lot of control over our career which we're very lucky to have because not many people in this industry do any more.
Obviously we've been singing and performing together loads on the road but it'll be nice to be involved in the creative process from the beginning ~ Jade Ewen
"It's nice we can really take our time and work with the particular people we want to work with and release it when we feel like it's perfect."

They plan to do some writing in the States next year but Heidi says the album won't have a particularly American sound.
She said: "We want to work with some American producers that we worked with last time but we want to try different things and see what works for us."
Jade had to rerecord Keisha's vocals for the last album and says she's happy to be involved from the start this time round.
"We've enjoyed working together," she said. "It's really nice trying to find out different tastes and things that influence you as a three-piece.
"Obviously we've been singing and performing together loads on the road but it'll be nice to be involved in the creative process from the beginning."
Sugababes say they hope to release new material next year.
In the meantime, the trio are spending time launching their own range of three perfumes in time for Christmas.

singer Heidi Range was taken to hospital on Friday, September 24 after a nasty fall left her needing stitches in her chin. The British star slipped in the shower at her home in London and was driven to a nearby hospital by concerned fiance Dave Berry with blood gushing from her wound, according to Britain's The People.

The singer's chin was stitched up and doctors ordered her to rest - prompting her to pull out of a performance at a ball for the British Olympic Association on Friday night. A source tells the publication, "Heidi had a bad fall and it was scary for a while. Dave took her to hospital."

"She was in shock and it was feared the injuries could be more severe. She was ordered to rest. She was gutted that she couldn't perform. The other girls weren't keen on going ahead without her and canceled the gig," the source adds.

    SUGABABES
The Sugababes were forced to pull out of their performing duties at the Olympic Ball after blonde Heidi Range took a fall in the shower yesterday morning – resulting in a hospital trip and several stitches to her jaw.
A spokeswomen told me: “Heidi had a fall at home yesterday and needed to go to hospital due to a bad cut.  It’s regrettably resulted in management having to cancel the band’s performance at the Olympic Ball in Park Lane this evening.”
Fortunately two of the girls were back on form appearing at Westfield today where they signed copies of their new fragrances Tempt, Tease and Touch at The Perfume Shop!
And dare I say it, Jade Ewen seems to have a lot more than usual up front!

Sugababes Release New Line Of Perfume

    9:39am UK, Tuesday September 21, 2010
    Rob Cole, Sky News Online

Some might say they smell sweet enough already, but the Sugababes have released a new line of perfume.

Following on from the likes of the Beckhams and model Katie Price, aka Jordan, the girl group told Sky News they had released three fragrances.
But they said the scents - Tempt, Tease and Touch - were not a reflection of the three girls' personalities.
"There are three different scents, they are not specific to each of us but we thought as women you like to wear perfume for different occasions and for different times of the day, so we covered all areas," said Heidi.
Mel said: "We were really hands on with the development of these three scents."
The Sugababes have bagged six UK number one singles, 18 UK top-ten hits and undergone several line-up changes since forming in 1998.
The band told Sky News they would be recording and touring their eighth studio album next year.
Discussing competition in the music industry, Heidi said: "It is tough but we have been very lucky as a band to be still going, it comes down to good music.
"If you do the music people love they will buy it."
