Heidi Range kept her fiancé waiting so long the night he proposed, he kept changing knees because he was getting cramps.

TV presenter Dave Berry popped the question to the Sugababes singer in their London apartment on New Year’s Eve. As she went upstairs to put on her shoes, he got the ring ready and got down on one knee, but was left waiting for over 10 minutes.

“I was in my pyjamas putting the washing on while watching Love Actually and at quarter to midnight, I went to get my slippers on to go to the roof terrace to watch the fireworks,” Heidi said.

Dave continued: “I ran into the kitchen, quickly got the ring out of my pocket, opened the box and got down on one knee. I wasn’t prepared for Heidi being so long though!

“I had to keep changing knees because I was getting cramps. She eventually came around the corner clutching a bottle of champagne in her cleavage and that’s when I asked her.”

Heidi said she was ecstatic when Dave proposed, but he was less than thrilled with her reaction. She did not behave like he expected her to, but he was pleased she said yes eventually.

“I’d love to say she said ‘Yes! Yes! Yes!’ and had lots of tears but she just stood there staring at me and shaking,” Dave told the British edition of OK! magazine. “Then I put the ring on her finger and it was romantic for a hundredth of a second because she went, ‘Ooh let me look at the ring!’ ”

SUGABABE Heidi showed off her engagement ring last night on BBC1's Eurovision: Your Country Needs You

Sugababe Heidi happily showed off her diamond engagement ring last night.

The beaming blonde bombshell performed alongside fellow Sugababes Amelle and Jade but stole the show when host Graham Norton asked her to give the audience a glimpse of her dazzling rock.

Dressed in a stunning turquoise mini dress the singer couldn't hide her excitement for her forthcoming marriage to dishy TV presenter Dave Berry.

Her handsome man, who proposed to her on New Year's Eve whilst holidaying in India, can breathe a sigh of a relief as his choice of ring has obviously gone down very well.

However the sound of wedding bells might be a way off yet as the hot trio are set for chart success with their latest sizzling album Sweet 7.

Heidi Range flashes her engagement ring as the Sugababes perform for Britain's Eurovision hopefuls

They were there to support the artist who will represent the UK in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
But Heidi Range couldn't resist flashing her engagement ring as the Sugababes performed for Graham Norton tonight.
The newly-engaged singer was singing live on One's Your Country Needs You!, the BBC's competition to find this year's British representative.

And as the hopefuls waited in the wings to hear which one would be headed to Norway at the end of May, the girls performed their latest hit and chatted to their host.
Heidi, 26, took the opportunity to show off her diamond, given to her by her TV presenter fiance Dave Berry, who proposed to her on New Year's Eve while they holidayed in India.
As host Graham Norton gushed over the bling, Heidi blushed as her bandmates Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen clapped delightedly.

And night was no doubt pretty special for Jade too, bringing the memories flooding back for the girl group's newest member.
Last year, she was chosen to represent the United Kingdom in the contest. She later finished in 5th place in Moscow with It's My Time.
It was the UK's best placing for seven years after a run of disastrous results.

But what a difference a year has made for the 21-year-old singer, who is now part of one of the UK's most successful all-female group of the 21st century.
And last night, she joined the judging panel alongside music producer Pete Waterman and Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli to rate each of the six acts before they faced a public vote.
And it was a teenager from Essex who not only impressed the celebrity panel with his version of Jason Donovan's hit song Too Many Broken Hearts but also won the hearts of the public.

Joe Dubovie, 19, reached the final three alongside fellow contestants 20-year-old dancer Alexis Gerred and 19-year-old vocalist Esma Akkilic, winning the public vote after coming in the final two with Gerred.
He also sang a Mike Stock and Pete Waterman song, called That Sounds Good To Me, which he will perform at the contest in Norway on May 29.

He said: 'I'm so so happy, I really can't believe it. Is this real?
'I never believed I'd come this far. The minute I heard the song I thought it was a definite winner.'
