Free download ... Sugababes

THE Sugababes' latest reinvention is not going well.
Their management and label have decided to release comeback single Freedom as a free download after realising it was unlikely to chart.
This week the pre-order link was pulled from iTunes after barely any airplay from major radio stations. Although the band claim the song is being given away "as a thank you to fans", it smacks of an attempt to save face. Now it seems unlikely that the group – Jade Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah – will get the chance to release an album.
Sony RCA will be able to pull out of their contract if initial singles don't chart – and Freedom won't now it's free.
After 13 years and four line-ups you can't help but think it's time for a Suga farewell.
