Celebrity News: Pop music set a date with destiny last night when the newly-reunited original Sugababes line-up held a press conference to announce that they will go head-to-head against their replacements in a tag-team wrestling extravaganza for the title of ‘Ultimate Sugababes.’

The group has been through a great deal of upheaval. Founder members Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan all left between 2001 and 2009 to be replaced by Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen. This has lead to legal wrangles over rights to the name – a struggle which will come to an end in July in front of an audience of thousands.
The star-studded ‘Ultimate Sugadown’ event will be held at the O2 Arena in July and hosted by Phill Jupitus. The victorious team will not only be awarded a trio of commemorative belts but the rights, in perpetuity, to the name ‘Ultimate Sugababes’.
Betting enthusiast and bicycle repair man Justin Fagsworth explains why he put £500 on the ones he half-jokingly calls ‘the original gangstas’.
“It’s all about Mutya for me,” says Fagsworth.
“When she cuts her eyes at you, you know you’re in trouble. If she works hard, I think she’s got what it takes to go all the way. I’m talking one-on-one events. I’m talking America. Potentially, she could be up against Chris Brown in a few years. Jesus Christ, how I’d love to see Mutya kick his head in.”

Nothing and everything has happened in the land of the Sugababes: The first incarnation of the group (Siobhan Donaghy, Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena) is reuniting, Heidi Range is busy twirling on Dancing on Ice, and Jade Ewen is busy painting Egyptian Queens and letting “Punching Out” just sit there and go to waste.
And as for Amelle Berrabah? Well, she’s heading into the studio…alone.
After launching an Official Amelle Berrabah Facebook page for herself earlier this week, the Suga songstress been tweeting about heading into the studio with Pete Kirtley, the UK producer responsible for “Now You’re Gone” on the Sugababes’ Taller In More Ways and “Strung Out,” which is featured on Mutya Buena’s solo album, Real Girl.

According to what I’ve been told from a close source, the lead single will be produced by Kirkley, who’s also acting as the main producer for the project. Still no word yet on when we’ll hear the new tunes this year, however.
Regardless of her new solo ambitions, Berrabah insists the Sugababes are still very much in tact, so it seems the ladies are pulling an Aloud and busying themselves with solo projects during their hiatus.
Whether or not they’ll stay together as the Sugababes once the original trio finally re-launch? Well, that’s a whole otha’ spoonful of suga.

Although her first dance on the rink wasn't spectacular or breath-taking, many agreed that it was a pretty good effort to kick start this year's show.

But last Sunday, Heidi Range found herself battling for her place on Dancing on Ice as she was left in the bottom two to go head-to-head with TV presenter Andy Akinwolere.

Fortunately for the Sugababe, she was saved by the judges, but determined not to sink that low again, she has been hard at work this week perfecting her moves.

The pop star, 28, was seen on the ice during rehearsals for this weekend's live show with partner Andre Lipanov.

On the makeshift rink at the ITV studios in Elstree, Hertfordshire, Heidi, who looked very svelte in her black leggings and T-shirt as she practiced her spins and turns.

She looked deep in concentration as she bent her knees and flung her arms in the air, all under the watchful eye of Lipanov, who was then seen holding her in his arms as she spun round, her arms outstretched and her eyes closed.

It wasn't the best start to the show for Heidi who was forced to switch partners six weeks into training.

Her original dance partner was Sylvain Longchambon, was injured his bicep in rehearsals and was forced to pull out of the show.

Lipanov, who was brought in to replace him but he and Heidi had little time to practice together and get to know each other before the first live show.

But after she was saved and has a chance to dazzle this weekend, Heidi has been practicing every day to make sure she avoids being in that situation this Sunday.

And she took to her Twitter page to reveal that she was doing really well and said: 'Heading back to the ice rink soon to get going on routine 2. It looks amazing, when Jane Torvill performs it that is!'

'Just finished a great skating session with @AndreiLipanov and coach Mark, now I'm heading to the gym. Hope you're all having a nice day.'

And she tweeted her former partner and wrote: '@slongchambon Thanks. Think you might be pleased to hear that I didn't scream on the lifts today, just little yelps, haha. Progress!'

Also seen at the rehearsal rink was Corey Feldman, fresh from partying with reality TV stars, as he took to the ice and showed off some moves reminiscent of his old friend, the late Michael Jackson.

And EastEnders star Laila Morse was also there and was seen larking about with her partner Lukasz Rozychi and Mark their trainer.

The second show in the new series of Dancing On Ice airs this Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV.

The Sugababes reunion rumours took another hit today as rumoured producer Professor Green denied involvement, writes Cyclone.
The British rapper Professor Green – real name Stephen Manderson – scoffed at reports that he’s working with a reunited Sugababes.
The girl group’s much loved original members – Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy – are said to be back in the studio, although they can’t actually record or perform under the name ‘Sugababes’.
Speculation about a rebooted Sugababes spread online when two of the group’s founders tweeted about working with Manderson last week. “Hanging out in the studio with @professorgreen and two lovely ladies with bags of talent :-p lol,” Buchanan wrote.
Manderson, returning to Australia to perform at the Future Music Festival, says it’s all a beat-up.
“Oh, no, no, no,” he laughs at the speculation. “People got the wrong end of the stick.
“I was in the same studio [complex] then that I’m in now.”
Now a pop franchise, Sugababes have had more line-up changes – and dramas – than the old Destiny’s Child. The current incarnation of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen last presented Sweet7 in early 2010.
Popjustice reported that a reunion album is progressing, with the trio now managed by Felix Howard, co-writer of their early single Overload.
Buena, dropped by her label after 2007’s solo debut Real Girl, has denied the Sugababes talk, tweeting to a fan, “No track [with] keisha or professor G he was around tha studio. im jus workin on my stuff @ tha moment.”
Buchanan’s camp maintains that she’s wrapping up an album of her own.
Today Manderson said, “You have a producer called Naughty Boy on the ground who did [my songs] Kids That Love To Dance and Astronaut. Then on the next floor up you have Craze & Hoax who did Heaven for Emeli [Sandé] – and then you’ve got some stuff [from them] on my next record. Then you’ve got Sunny, who did Do For You and Forever Falling for me – and then the producer on the top floor, Mojam, who did Avalon, Remedy and Monster. So it’s just a whole different bunch of people.
“I just happened to be in the building at the same time as Keisha.”
Oddly, Popjustice suggested that some of the aforementioned producers – and Sandé – are involved in the “Origababes” project.
Manderson, who issued his second album, At Your Inconvenience, late last year, is aghast that even the Guardian has picked up the story. But he’s used to dealing with gossip now.
“It’s amazing – like I’ve opened papers to find out so much stuff about myself!
“If I wanna find out if I’m in a relationship or not, I just read Heat magazine.”

The Future Music Festival visits Brisbane Saturday 3 March, Perth Sunday 4, Sydney Saturday 10, Melbourne Sunday 11 and Adelaide Monday 12.

Because you can go behind the scenes at Dancing on Ice, but also remain on your sofa eating a cheese toastie in your pyjamas while you take a look at these snaps, taken behind the scenes of the show as the celebs got ready for the first episode of the show on Sunday night.
Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere became the first celebrity to be voted off the new series in Sunday night's episode when he lost a skate-off against Sugababes singer Heidi Range, who's pictured having her make-up done in the snaps.

Jennifer Ellison - who showed off the results of her massive weight loss on the show - is also seen having her hair done, while former contestant Chesney Hawkes - well, we say former contestant, he never actually made it on screen - poses with his leg in a cast.

The first episide of Dancing on Ice was a bit disappointing for ITV, after the first show attracted 700,000 fewer than last year's opener. And nearly one million of the 8.6 million who first tuned in avoided the results show later, when former Blue Peter presenter Andy Akinwolere was voted off. Ouch.
New host Christine Bleakley, 32, who replaced Holly Willoughby, also failed to impress some viewers, with Twitter users calling her bland, rigid and boring.
The main show also peaked at 9.5 million, against last year's 10.7 million high, and The Skate-Off got 6.5 million compared with 2011's 7.4 million.
No pressure Bleakley, but things seemed to go better when Holly Willoughby became Holly Willoughbooby. Just a thought.

Mutya Buena has denied that she is working on new music with the original Sugababes lineup. Despite claims that Buena has reunited with Siobhan Donaghy and Keisha Buchanan, the singer has insisted she is focused on her solo career.

Rumours of an original Sugababes reunion were started by the website Popjustice, which reported on Friday that staff were going to "break down and cry" over the "stupidly amazing" news. According to its sources, Donaghy, Buchanan and Buena "met up last year" and agreed to work together. The re-formed trio would be managed by Felix Howard, who wrote Sugababes' hits Overload and Stronger, and were apparently in talks with producers Cameron McVey and Xenomania. "It's going quite well," Popjustice reported.

At the heart of this report were two tweets from 5 January: "Hanging out in the studio with @professorgreen and two lovely ladies with bags of talent :-p lol," wrote Buchanan. Buena's tweet was similar: "@ studio wit professor green in tha building and 2 beautiful ladies." In an almost too-neat coincidence, Donaghy made her Twitter debut the next day, 6 January. Although she has made no mention of Buchanan or Buena, her second post was a message to Felix Howard.

However, Buena is the only one to have addressed the reports directly. After a fan asked about her plans, Buena dismissed the reunion rumour. "No track [with] keisha or professor G he was around tha studio," she wrote. "im jus workin on my stuff @ tha moment."

Buena's comments seem in line with a statement from Buchanan's spokesperson: "[Keisha] is in the final stages of completing her much awaited solo album and believes her fans will be equally excited with what's to come," they told Australia's Sky News.

If the original lineup did reunite, they would not be able to use the Sugababes name. Despite forming the girl-group in 1998, they left the trio one by one: Donaghy in 2001, Buena in 2005 and Buchanan in 2009. The group currently consists of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen. While Buena is entitled to use the Sugababes brand on merchandise, the Range/Berrabah/Ewen iteration retains principal ownership of the name.
