Five Minutes of Fashion with Jade Ewen

Five Minutes of Fashion with Jade Ewen

The newest Sugababe Jade Ewen faced a lot of pressure to step into Keisha Bucchanon’s stilletoes when she joined the girl group last year but she never fails to look stylish.

The former Eurovision song competition contestant has some of the coolest party dresses in pop and always pushes boundaries with silk, lace, ruffles and bows – sometimes all at the same time like when she wore this gorgeous dress to the Virgin pre-Wimbledon party.

We grabbed her away from her bandmates Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah to learn more about how she dresses to impress and find out how she has blossomed since she burst onto the music scene as Britain’s Eurovision contestant in 2009.

Qs: How’s the Sugababes’ fashion different to what you wore when you represented Britain in the Eurovision song contest?

“Amanda Wakeley designed my dress, because we wanted a British designer. It was so elegant with amazing attention to detail. It was beautiful and classy. Andrew Lloyd Webber was accompanying me on piano, so if he does I can’t be stood there in a crazy outfit.

“Now I wear less clothes, sometimes practically nothing!”

QS: How do you feel about the Sugababes raunchy outfits?

“I’m happy to get skimpy for my music. Fashion is what gets your music noticed – just look at Lady Gaga.”

QS: How do you decide what to wear?

“We have a fantastic stylist, who normally tells us what look to go for and gives us advice. Sometimes you don’t want to listen but you always know she’s right – she’s the professional. She’s encouraged me to try things I wouldn’t normally have worn like cropped jackets with shorts or leggings.”

QS: Have you ever regretted anything?

“I wore a tight white catsuit to Rihanna’s afterparty at Merah nightclub and I got slated for it. But I am happy if I get it right 90% of the time – there’s always something that is less than perfect.

QS: Do you still shop on the high street?

“Yes! I love Lipsy and I also like Rare dresses. No matter how big the Sugababes get, I’ll always remember my roots. I don’t come from a rich family so designer was not an option when I was growing up.”

QS: Is there a lucky guy?

“Yes. I am dating Ricky Norwood, who plays Fatboy in Eastenders. The day I found out I was in The Sugababes, he found out he was in Eastenders. We grew up together in East London and I have known him for years so it felt very natural when we got together.”

And talking of naturals, it’s all about the naturals and nudes in terms of dress colours this summer.

Glow like Jade in a Love Label peplum dress

Or add some ruffles with a Love Label zip front dress

For something more conservative but still in this season’s on trend beige try Fearne Cotton lace sleeve tunic

If we were Keisha, we’d be very jealous indeed.

Sugababes Start Recording New Album

Following the epic flop that was their not-so ‘Sweet 7′ LP, what’s left of the Sugababes announced this week that they are recording the album’s follow-up. More after the jump…

Longest serving member Heidi Range lifted the lid on the commencement of recording earlier this week:

“We’re only three days into recording our new album, so it’s early days. We’re not sure about any collaboration yet and we don’t even know when it’s going to be released.”

With Amelle Berrabah, adding:

“We’re keeping to our Sugababes sound but we’re also hoping to try new things too.” {Source}

Reliable word has it that the ladies are clocking in studio time with a number of the producers behind their biggest selling albums such as ‘Three’ and ‘Change’.

Sugababes' Amelle Berrabah

Sugababes' Amelle Berrabah showcases her washboard stomach in slashed crop top

With a washboard stomach like that, it's no wonder Amelle Berrabah's a fan of the fashion for crop tops.

The 26-year-old singer was spotted leaving the May Fair hotel in central London in a slashed T-shirt and leggings after working up a sweat in the 5-star venue's gym.

And she was more than happy to pose for the waiting paparazzi in her sweaty kit before being whisked away in a Mercedes convertible.

Have you got my best side? Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah smiles for the cameras as she leaves the May Fair Hotel in central London in her gym kit

Her ease with the cameras could be down to a new-found confidence in her body - thanks, in part, to her passion for Bikram Yoga.

Amelle told Closer magazine: 'It's yoga but in a heated room like a sauna. You sweat like mad and toxins pour out of you. I swear by it and I think I'm looking pretty good.'

It's good to hear her happy with herself at last.

Less than a year ago she described herself as looking like an 'anorexic rat' after she became so dangerously underweight that her doctor prescribed her a diet of high-calorie food to be eaten every two hours.

Where's my ride? Amelle gets into a waiting Mercedes

Amelle was also flying the flag for England ahead of Sunday's match against Germany with a Union Jack bag.

But she kept things glam with a cream Chanel handbag in her other hand.

Taking it easy: After all that hard work at the gym, Amelle was happy to be driven home

Fancy slipping into the cockpit of your very own Formula One car? Fancy treating your child to best work experience they could want - a week working for the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team? Or would you prefer to have a limited edition Gold & Tantalum Hublot Aerobang watch on your wrist? You don’t have to be a guest at the exclusive F1 Party, you can bid for auction lots by email or over the phone now.

Alternatively, pack your bags for a fortnight’s holiday on exclusive Necker Island; enjoy the ultimate British Grand Prix experience courtesy of Santander; sing in front of the X Factor judges; or take possession of a signed Fernando Alonso racing suit.

These are just some of the ‘once in a lifetime’ auction lots available at this year’s official F1™ Party. Held annually in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, the event is an integral part of the build-up to next month’s 2010 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX. This year’s party will take place on July 5 in the Natural History Museum in London.

The party is held with the kind permission of Bernie Ecclestone, CEO of the Formula One Group, and Santander, title sponsor of the British Grand Prix, are generously sponsoring the event for a fourth year running. Since 2005 the partnership between Formula One racing and the hospital’s charity has raised nearly £1.5 million towards its new and much needed Heart and Lung Centre.

Last year’s event added £450,000 to the Centre’s funds, which is scheduled for completion in 2012. Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Cardiac team is among the best in the world, caring for more than 7,000 children with complex heart and lung conditions every year.

“We have brought together the Formula One community to forge a unique partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital, which has developed over many years now,” explained Ecclestone. His daughter, Tamara, is the party’s creative director and has helped to plan and oversee the event from the early stages.

Chart-topping pop act the Sugababes will perform at the party, alongside DJ Henry Holland, whilst TV presenters - and hospital patrons - Tess Daly and Vernon Kay will host the evening. However, the main focus for guests will of course be the charity auction, which will see a whole host of glamorous and exclusive lots up for grabs.

Arguably the most exciting item on offer is a 2006 BMW Sauber Formula One car. Driven by Nick Heidfeld to ninth in the drivers’ championship, the F1.06 has been generously donated by current BMW Sauber team principal Peter Sauber. Heidfeld racked up a total of 9,044 kilometres behind the wheel of the car and finished seventh at the British, Canadian and Chinese Grands Prix.

To bid for any of the items listed below please email laura.herrod@gosh.org or telephone (+44) 020 7239 3058. Tickets for the Party still available at a cost of £300 each. For further details about the party and to purchase tickets, click here.

Stars Decline Katie Price/Jordan's Wedding Invitation!

Stars Decline Katie Price/Jordan's Wedding Invitation!

Former glamour model Katie Price a.k.a. Jordan is upset about the fact that stars have not responded positively to her wedding invitation with Alex Reid, much in contrast to her former marriage with Peter Andre.

Jordon has also refused a lucrative offer from a down market magazine as there may not be enough celeb guests to show up for the function.

She is even pushed to the situation of paying the guests to attend the wedding.

“This is Katie’s worst nightmare. It’s hugely embarrassing for her,” a friend of the couple revealed.

According to the reports of 'News Of The World', her bridesmaid Michelle Heaton, model Danielle Lloyd and glamour model Emma B have accepted the invitation and who will be making their presence at the wedding that is to take place on July 3.

“She''s thinking about booking Sugababes or The Saturdays to perform. It will help because they''ll count as well known guests,” a friend said.

“Her wedding to Peter was a real star-studded bash, but it''s the opposite this time,” the friend added.

PLEASE PLEASE DONT DO IT SUGABABES !!!!!!

Jade Ewen "Nobody Recognises Me"

Jade Ewen says she is less recognised than her boyfriend.

The Sugababes singer is dating Ricky Norwood - who is known for his role as Fatboy in BBC soap EastEnders - and Jade admits that while fans stop him in the street, they have no idea who she is.

"My hair's usually curly, so nobody recognises who I am," Ewen told the News of The World. "I've had people say to me, 'Would you mind taking a picture of me with that boy please?'"

Girl group Sugababes believe that their new album will not be in competition with former member Keisha Buchanan's solo work.
Sugababes insist Keisha Buchanan's solo work is no "competition" to them.
The group - Jade Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - have recently started working on their new album and though their former bandmate is also in the studio recording her debut LP, the `Get Sexy' hitmakers insist there is no rivalry.
Jade - who replaced Keisha in the band last September - said: "Keisha is a solo artist and we're a group so we're not in competition with each other at all. That would be ridiculous - I've never even met her."
The girls - whose last record, 'Sweet 7' failed to make it into the top 10 in the UK charts- are excited about working on their next release but are still unsure how it will sound.
Speaking at the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, Heidi told BANG Showbiz: "We're only three days into recording our new album, so it's early days. We're not sure about any collaboration yet and we don't even know when it's going to be released."
Amelle- who replaced founded member Mutya Buena in 2005 - added: "We're keeping to our Sugababes sound but we're also hoping to try new things too."
