'Are they or aren't they?' speculation has been circulating the industry for weeks.

And now it appears as though the cat is out of the bag; the original Sugababes are indeed reforming - if Emeli Sandé is to be believed.

The singer/songwriter let slip earlier this week that she has been writing material for the original line-up, Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy.

Despite Mutya previously denying the rumours, Emeli wasn't so coy when quizzed on the speculation that she has been working with the girl group.

The Heaven singer told MTV: 'Yes, that is true. I’ve written for the original line-up of the Sugababes, which I’m very happy about because I just loved them when they first came out.

'I loved their sound, it was so cool. It was very different, so I’m happy to kind of be involved in what started the whole Sugababes journey. It sounds amazing.'

Whispers started after both Keisha and Mutya tweeted about working in the studio with Professor Green on the same day in early January.

Keisha wrote on January 5: 'Hanging out in the studio with @professorgreen and two lovely ladies with bags of talent :-p lol.'

Mutya tweeted: '@ studio wit professor green in tha building and 2 beautiful ladies' (sic).

The Daily Mirror quoted a source this week as claiming: 'The girls are very much back to their soulful roots but this time around it's far more innovative.

'They've recorded more tracks too - and they're working hard to get a body of new work.

'Siobhan has left her job in the City and they are concentrating on getting material together for an album. They are very dedicated and it's working well.'

If the rumours are true, the girls will have to reform under a different moniker.

As the current line-up of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen are still operating as the Sugababes, the original three will have to come up with a new name.

Emeli Sande Confirms Song With Original Sugababes

EXCLUSIVE | The singer reveals that she IS writing for Mutya & co...

18:14, Wednesday, 25 January 2012

Emeli Sande has exclusively confirmed to MTV News that she IS writing a track for the original members of the Sugababes.
Earlier this week, reports had suggested that Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy had recorded a new song together entitled Love Like This, penned by Sande and produced by Naughty Boy.
A source told The Mirror: "The girls are very much back to their soulful roots but this time around it's far more innovative. They've recorded more tracks too - and they're working hard to get a body of new work.

"Siobhan has left her job in the City and they are concentrating on getting material together for an album. They are very dedicated and it's working well."
When we asked Emeli if there was any truth in the rumours, the Heaven singer confirmed: "Yes, that is true. I’ve written for the original line-up of the Sugababes, which I’m very happy about because I just loved them when they first came out.
"I loved their sound, it was so cool. It was very different, so I’m happy to kind of be involved in what started the whole Sugababes journey. It sounds amazing."
Emeli is performing at MTV's Brand New For 2012 gig at London's KoKo tonight (25th January) alongside Michael Kiwanuka and Delilah.

Rumours about Sugababes representing UK in Eurovision Song Contest

Written by Marc Calleja Bayliss
Wednesday, 25 January 2012 01:09
One of the most followed countries at the Eurovision Song Contest is surely the United Kingdom following a renewed interest by the British Broadcasting Corporation in recent years due to the fact that the renowned musical event has continued to grow even in terms of impact within the actual worldwide music industry. It seems that the British tabloids have been out to uncover the act that will ultimately do the honour and follow in the footsteps of Blue and have indeed come up with quite a couple of names but according to unconfirmed news, it seems that the decision will be announced quite soon with the act being none other than The Sugababes.
The choice might not be at all unrealistic although unexpected as was the case with the Blue, the British boy-band who took to the stage in Dusseldorf, Germany. There has been renewed interest from artists in the United Kingdom with four allegedly throwing their hat into the ring hoping that they would ultimately be chosen. These included none other than; Joe McElderry who won the X Factor as well as Popstar to Operastar; Stacey Solomon who finished third in the same season of the X Factor; Melanie C who found fame first as a member of the Spice Girls and then as a soloist and last but not least; Atomic Kitten who have been performed on again, off again for the past couple of years. Nevertheless, the Sugababes seem to be the number 1 choice of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) at this stage but one should never count their chickens before they hatch because the first case scenario in 2011 included the stunning Hurts' but then in a quick change of heart, Blue were contracted instead. It will be quite interesting if this is the fact as Jade Ewen, now one of the trio represented the United Kingdom in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'It's My Time'.

Amelle Berrabah has hinted that her first solo single is called 'Rebel'.

The Sugababes star, who is currently working on solo material in the recording studio with producer Pete Kirtley, previously described one of her songs as "ridiculous!!! In a good way!"

However, Berrabah has now strongly indicated that her debut single is named 'Rebel', after she started to use the word as a Twitter hashtag when talking about her solo project.

Writing about her new official Facebook page, she tweeted "More pics 2 come soon people!! Don't 4get 2 check out my official Facebook site!! Love u guys! #REBEL!x"

The star then continued to respond to and retweet fans using the 'Rebel' hashtag.

An official confirmation on the release of the new track has yet to be issued, but Berrabah recently suggested that it would be soon.

Fellow Sugababes member Heidi Range has teased that she has also considered recording a solo album while the girl group take time off to pursue their own individual projects.
