About Lapland - nature, seasons

Lapland offers its visitors four seasons that very distinctly differ from one another. Spring, summer, autumn, and the winter that takes up half the year provide you with the very best travel experiences when you take an open mind and clothing suitable for the time of year. Landscapes typical for Lapland other than the grand fell sceneries are the aapa bogs rich with birdlife, various hilly regions and expansive river waterways. The most common and best known animal is the reindeer that is an essential part of Lappish nature.

Lappish culture is a mixture of influences from every direction. The cultures of the neighbouring regions of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Russia have greatly influenced the Sámi culture and Finnishness. The cultural differences between Lapland’s different regions are rather significant. The Swedish influenced West Lapland district is worlds apart from the Sámi culture of North Lapland with completely different language and traditions.

Lapland belongs to a continental climatic zone characterised by snowy winters and relatively warm summers. The four seasons of Lapland distinctly differ from one another, from the wintertime period of harsh freezing temperatures and a few hours of daylight to the springtime with great ski slope conditions and the summertime with the Midnight Sun and autumn with its vibrant autumnal ruska period.  How about downhill or cross-country skiing on guaranteed snow cover, or perhaps a sensory awakening with a dip in an ice pool? Would you prefer a long canoeing trip in the sunshine, or maybe a trek through the vibrantly coloured ruska countryside? These are all given to you by Lapland’s spectacularly different four seasons.

Photo of Jade's Dress at Drogbas Charity Ball

Jade has been Tweeting that she was helping her Mum decorate the Christmas tree today and then showed us her gorgeous dress worn to Drogbas Charity Ball last night at The Grosvenor House Hotel ~JadeEwenFan

@JadeEwen : Helping decorate mums Christmas tree now! :)

@JadeEwen :My dress yesterday for Drogba's charity ball by body Amr! Thanks guys xxxx
Last night marked the 2nd Charity Ball Didier Drogba has held alongside, Pepsi, JadaStyles, and Petroci.
It was an event of tuxedos and gowns, Polished shoes and Stiletto's but most IMPORTANTLY Charty.
Held at the luxurious Grosvenor House Hotel in The Great Ballrom the night began with some talks about the Charity including a heart-felt speech from Didier himself about his Charity and where he wants it go.
This was followed by an INTENSE auction for some pretty exclusive things. Vintage/Legendary football t-shirts, boots, memorobilia, balls, signed Basketball jerseys, 5 star Holidays, a JadaStyles styling session ;), and much more!!After the success of the Auction , it was time for some Entertainment and who better to open other than NICOLE SCHERZINGER from The PussyCat Dolls who belted hits like 'Dont Cha' and her current chart hit 'Poison' she was also joined on stage by Didier himself and 'other' guests haha... The Saturdays also performed and a few acts followed.
The Entertainment was great, and hope we all raised a hell of alot of money for DDF as it is a GREAT CAUSE! Please FOLLOW @FondationDrogba on Twitter and RT them! For every RT! One dollar is raised. Takes no time!

Nicole Scherzinger and friends rack up £100,000 bar bill after Jingle Bell Ball

Nicole Scherzinger and friends rack up £100,000 bar bill after Jingle Bell Ball

Nicole Scherzinger and her famous mates sunk £100,000 of booze after Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday.

The Pussycat Doll raised the bar in the diva stakes when she turned up to royal drinking hole Mahiki with an entourage of 50 guests.
Helping her chug champagne, Bacardi cocktails and the club’s famous booze-filled Treasure Chests were cast members from Glee, Kelly Brook and Strictly Come Dancing’s Gavin Henson.
They were joined by rapper Professor Green, Sugababe Jade Ewen, TV presenter Gethin Jones and X Factor choreographer Brian Freedman. ‘Nicole’s guest list was even bigger than when Beyoncé turned up.
She wasn’t holding back and was on a high after performing her new single at the Jingle Bell Ball,’ a source claimed.
‘She put in a second performance with her girlfriends, going for it when her new single Poison was played on the club dance floor.’
Earlier in the day, the 32-year-old’s racing champ lover, Lewis Hamilton, was taking the credit for selecting her new hit.
‘Poison’s gotta be one of the best tracks out this year,’ Hamilton said while choosing his top ten records of the year for a Radio One show.
‘I said to Nicole, “You know this has gotta be the one that you have got to get out first”. Every time I hear it, I try to play the guitar.’
But Lew’s girl wasn’t the only one in a spin after Sugababe Ewen, 22, was courted by 28-year-old Glee stars Mark Salling, aka Puck, and Cory Monteith, alias Finn.
Sadly, she didn’t know who they were… Perhaps warming things up for her cousin William’s engagement bash was Zara Phillips, 29, who gave the night the royal seal of approval with an appearance.
The party came after a string of big performances over at the O2 arena in south-east London which saw The Wanted, Alexandra Burke, Duffy and tonight Kylie Minogue take to the stage.

I was bullied for being too thin, reveals Sugababe star Jade Ewen

I was bullied for being too thin, reveals Sugababe star Jade Ewen

SUGABABE Jade Ewen has revealed how she was taunted for being too thin.
The stunning singer said she felt unattractive because of the ridicule heaped upon her "skinny" physique.
The 22-year-old hid her slender figure beneath baggy clothes while blaming a highenergy lifestyle for her trouble putting on the pounds.
Jade, who is half Scottish on her father's side, joined the trio in 2009, replacing founder member Keisha Buchanan.
The Sugababes are the most successful female act of the decade with six UK number ones and 18 top ten hits.
Jade said: "I used to be really conscious about my weight.
"I've always been really thin and when I was younger people used to say I looked ill because I was very long and bony.
"I did a lot of dancing so even though I ate loads I seemed to always be losing weight as opposed to putting it on."

It's terrible but it's true : most African children are still left out and almost forgotten on the road to progress, especially when we talk about health and education. That's why the Didier Drogba Foundation has been created.
This is Didier's attempt to change things for the better. The goal is to develop more and more structures, to give people basic healthcare and education. Because this unacceptable situation has lasted too long. The patients must be treated with dignity and respect in a healthy environment. The doctors must be able to work in good conditions, especially in paediatrics. And education is also a priority. Because the youth of today is the future of tomorrow.
Here are the details of the Foundation's means and actions since its creation in 2007.
les missions de la fondation

Means

  • Didier invested his personal funds in the Foundation to develop it.
  • Didier donated to the Foundation all the profits from his book "Didier Drogba: The autobiography" and his DVD "The Incredible Destiny of Didier Drogba".
  • "The Didier Drogba Foundation Charity Ball" on 21st November 2009 at the Dorchester Hotel in London, to promote the Foundation and raise funds.

Actions

  • The Foundation provided help and funds for such structures as the Red Cross in Abidjan, Page Blanche Institution, orphanages in Grand Bassam or Madame Houphouet-Boigny's.
  • Yao, a young child with leukemia, has been taken care of and evacuated to Geneva to be treated.
  • Build a hospital in Abidjan, a project fully supported by the Foundation.
