Tumble's Lucy Mecklenburgh lands in bottom two but is saved from elimination after John Partridge's shaky vault sees him get the boot

Close call! Tumble's Lucy Mecklenburgh lands in bottom two but is saved from elimination after John Partridge's shaky vault sees him get the boot

With the semi-finals for BBC One's gymnastics show Tumble kicking off next week, the bar was raised on Saturday night’s episode.
Despite gaining immense confidence since her first week Lucy Mecklenburgh’s seductive ribbon routine failed to impress the judges and landed her in the bottom two.
The 22-year-old former TOWIE star had to face off against actor John Partridge, whose trampoline routine was the lowest-scoring of the night, in a head-to-head a vault competition - with the weaker performer being evicted.

However Lucy, who looked sexy in a metallic leotard and big bouncy curls, was pleased with her ribbon performance and admitted she’d finally come into her own.
‘I’m actually starting to enjoy to perform. I loved that routine! I am starting to get into the routines and get into character,’ she said of her moody and sexy show with gym pro partner Billy.

But the judges insisted the routine wasn’t hard enough and gave her 28/40.
Meanwhile John kicked off the show with an energetic trampoline set full of stag jumps, somersaults and split leaps.

Judge Louis Smith slammed the routine, which scored 26/40. ‘The difficulty just wasn’t there. I really didn’t enjoy it this week,’ Louis said.
In the end, Lucy and John took to the vault in front of the watchful eye of Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci, who had the final say in who to send home.
Before taking to the vault John said: ‘There’s immense pressure. It’s fight or flight.’
While Lucy was equally as nervous. ‘I don’t like the vault. I’m worried I’m not going to have enough power because of how nervous I’ll be. You just get one shot and that’s it.’
Although Lucy came extremely close to hitting her back on the vault, Nadia decided John’s vault was the weaker of the two and sent him home.

It was a different story actor Bobby Lockwood from Wolfblood, who landed the highest score for the second week in a row thanks to a tight, clean and skilled space-inspired trampoline routine, which saw the star get a standing ovation from the audience.
Bobby walked away with 35/40 and the judges praises. ‘Everything you did from the beginning to the end was the best form and execution,’ Nadia said.
‘One small step for man, one giant leap for Bobby and Kristin. You are no longer a celebrity, you are a gymnast to me now,’ Louis added.

While professional boxer Carl Froch gave an entertaining routine with a tyre – or as the judges liked to call it rhythmic gymnastics the macho way. Carl also scored 31/40.
Sugarbabes Amelle Berrabah showed off her skills with a backwards somersault on the trampoline and ended up with 29.5/40 in her routine.
And Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, who struggled with her ball routine, just missed out on having to take on the vault with 29/40.

It's week four and Tumble's celebrities are battling to get through to next week and avoid the dreaded vault.
But things aren't going well for Amelle Berrabah, who took an embarrassing tumble on live television trying to do an aerial cartwheel during her rhythmic floor routine.
The Sugababes star is desperate to do well in her trampoline performance on Saturday night, but her confidence has taken a big hit.

An insider told MailOnline: 'Amelle's been great every week, then last weekend she fell over and it was really embarrassing for her, she has picked herself up again and is throwing herself into this week's trampoline routine.
'But she is attempting some tricky moves again and has been finding it really tough, which makes her really sad and demoralised.'
Last week Amelle was seen ducking out of a no hands cartwheel due to nerves, before tweeting afterwards: 'Ummm... How embarrassing!! Lool! I joke... A little disappointed about the no handed kart wheel but now focused & ready for next week! (sic)'

Despite her shaky routine, she was saved from elimination by judges Nadia Comăneci, Louis Smith, Craig Heap and Sebastien Stella.
The 30-year-old beauty isn't the only one suffering ahead going into this weekend, however.
Despite Ian 'H' Watkins being a favourite with the Tumble judges, with Olympian Louis tipping him as the one to watch, the former Steps singer is worried he won't be able to perform due to injuries.

Last week he attempted a double back somersault, but it ended up an epic fail as he fell head first into the foam pit and badly hurt his neck and battered his nose.
An insider added: 'H is desperate to impress the judges and the injury on his nose is an addition to his list of woes. He attempted a double back somersault that many gymnasts can't do even after years of training.
'H crashed head first and has now got whiplash on his neck, which he is now having physio on. The pain is excruciating and the worry is he won't be able to perform tomorrow night.'
The star has been documenting his many injuries on his Twitter account.
      He tweeted last week: 'I now HATE my Rhythmic Prop !!! @BBCOne #Tumble A Deeper Shade of ( Black and ) Blue !! #Fickle #LoveHate #Ouch (sic)'.
